Who we are

Gaffney Foods was started by an entrepreneurial consultant with specialties in high tech, construction and food businesses. This combination may seem like an odd mix, but these are three of the industries with additional licensing and certifications involved. She worked with the community to develop a technology and a food business incubator providing direct assistance to the businesses as well as well assisted in developing the layout and finding funding sources.

While working with food businesses, one gap in the process that was noticed was that it is extremely difficult for food manufacturers to grow to the next level. Increased regulation has been rolling out over the last few years called the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). These regulations add a great deal of paper work that was never involved before. As these regulations increased, more small food manufactures were dropping out of the industry finding the paperwork burdensome.

Many start by bottling sauces, making pickles or other type foods in their home kitchen or shared facility. When they get ready to grow, they either have to build out a facility (which is extremely expensive) or use a co-packer (someone who would take their recipe and make and bottle the product for them) to increase production. However, the vast majority of co-packers have production minimums that are well beyond the distribution levels and is a cash flow burden.

Partnering with a graphic designer, a chef, general contract, a restaurant general manager and a food scientist, Gaffney Foods decided to fill this gap as a food manufacturer specializing in micro-batch co-packing and private labeling. We handle all of the FSMA paper work and have NO minimums.

One of the hardest things for a small manufacturer to do is to entrust their product, which is often a family recipe, with someone else. We do everything in our power to assist in the transition. If the company prefers, everything can be hand done from chopping to filling and owners of the product can even come observe the process or even participate if they so desire.

Our products are handcrafted and made in small batches. we strive to create the highest quality products that everyone will be able to enjoy. In that vein, we have developed our own line of products that are gluten-free, vegan and allergy sensitive.
